Thermal receipts are vital for sales returns, expense accounting, and corporate tax audits. Since thermal dye chemistry relies on thermal activation, these printed slips remain sensitive to light, heat, and moisture, which can cause image fading over time.
1. Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat
Never leave thermal receipt records in a hot car, near radiators, or under direct window sun exposure. Temperatures exceeding 45°C trigger the latent thermal dye, turning the paper gray and obliterating text legibility. Store records in dark filing folders.
2. Keep Away from Plasticizers
Plasticizers are chemical compounds found in plastic sheets, PVC binders, and adhesive tapes. Storing receipts in clear plastic sleeves will cause the chemical ink to dissolve, leading to complete print fading within months. Use paper envelopes instead.
"To archive receipts for tax audits, photocopy or digitize important thermal slips immediately. The thermal dyes are chemically unstable over decades."
3. Maintain Low Humidity
High moisture levels degrade the print contrast. Keep storage bins in a dry, ventilated office cabinet. Our premium thermal rolls are engineered with top-protective barriers to resist minor moisture and oil contacts, maintaining clarity for up to 5 years under normal storage.
